If you live in the Chicago area and are looking for travel tips or just wanted a cheap two-hour vacation, WYCC-TV Channel 20 offers a block of travel programming every Wednesday night.
And if you don’t live in the Chicago area, the programs listed below are usually on PBS stations on a consistent basis.
And for Wednesday, Sept. 16, your destinations are:
8 p.m. — “Rick Steves’ Europe” — Rick visits Lisbon and the Algarve on Portugal’s south coast. He checks out Cape Sagres and the fishing village of Salema.
8:30 p.m. — “Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscopre” — It’s a trip to Montana including Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake that’s west of the Mississippi River and Glacier National Park. I have been fortunate enough to have enjoyed two memorable trips to Glacier National Park. You don’t forget memories such as walking out of the Glacier Park Lodge and seeing so many stars in the sky that the sky seems almost blocked out.
9 p.m. — “Globe Trekker” — Today’s program explores Papua New Guinea’s New Britain Island including the township of Rabaul that was destroyed by a 1994 volcanic eruption. Also on the agenda is the island of Bougainville which is known for wreck diving and sea kayaking.
UNTIL NEXT TIME. . .
