WYCC-TV in Chicago has its viewers exploring two locales in the United States, parts of Spain and South America with its lineup of travel programs slated for tonight (May 18).
7:30 p.m. — “Weekend Explorer” — This program was just recently added to the Wednesday night lineup. This week it visits Tybee, Island Georgia. The viewer explores historic lighthouses, sees rare birds and local marine life. There’s also a visit to a dolphin tour, a look at pirate history and a morning kayak excursion.
8 p.m. — “Rick Steves’ Europe” — Rick stops at three places in this episode beginning with the Andalucia region of Spain where he pays a visit to the wind surfing capital of Tarifa. Also on the docket is Gibraltar and a trip over to Morocco to see Tangier.
8:30 p.m. — “Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope” — Joseph heads to West Virginia and checks out the New and Gauley Rivers, biking a mountain trail and rappelling down a gorge. The state history of coal mining is also explored.
9 p.m. — “Globe Trekker” — Tonight’s show is devoted to 10 South American adventures that include stops in Guyana, Venezuela, Columbia, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil. The adventures include white-water rafting, searching for anacondas and heading to the world’s highest waterfalls. And watch as the Lanin Volcano is climbed in the Andes Mountains.
