It’s Wednesday and that means another night of great travel programs on WYCC-TV in Chicago. And here is tonight’s itinerary.
8 p.m. (CDT) — “Rick Steves’ Europe” — Rick is in England to visit the cities of Bath and York. He’ll visit The Georgian House and the Roman hot springs in Bath where the hot water still bubbles as it has for 2,000 years. I was fortunate enough to visit Bath in the early 1990s and the Roman hot springs is a must-see if you are in the city. A big highlight of his visit to York is the National Railway Museum.
8:30 p.m. — “Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope” — Tonight’s episode is called “In the Path of the Conquistadors.” There are two episodes devoted to this topic, but the WYCC-TV web site was unclear as to which one will be shown tonight. Each deals wtih the influence of the ancient Spanish empires — one in regards to the Philippines and the other to North and Central America.
9 p.m. — “Globe Trekker” — This episode focuses on Ukraine and was first shown a few years ago before the conflict with Russia began and violence started. The show stops at a Lviv beer hall, a shaman in the Carpathian Mountains, a Cold War missile base in Pervamaisk and a bridal agency in Kherson and looks at the pilgrimage of Hassidic Jews to Uman.
UNTIL NEXT TIME. . .
